StartupWA – Growing a Whole Innovation Ecosystem? Insights for sectors, cities, regions and nations.

See the video below for StartupWA’s  event on Growing a Whole Innovation Ecosystem.

From StartupWA’s Event Page:

This quarter, join our guests and contribute your insights into how to grow a healthy ecosystem. This session is relevant whether you are in a niche sector, regional city, or care about what’s happening interstate and internationally. This forum is a great opportunity to voice your views and listen, as a founder, facilitator or investor.

This is highly topical, as the role of our sector becomes increasingly significant in job creation, talent attraction and economic growth. The speakers and discussion will give some context for how we advocate for progress in WA, and will lead into our launch of this year’s survey of the startup sector with StartupMuster.

This quarter we we are updating the format to increase opportunities for participation and providing updates on new initiatives and opportunities through StartupWA.

Monica Wulff

Monica Wulff co-founded Startup Muster in 2013 after recognising a lack of insight and statistics about the Australian startup ecosystem. Upon graduating from Macquarie University with a Bachelor in Applied Finance and a Bachelor of Economics she joined the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Monica caught the startup bug after visiting a friend at their coworking space and has been actively contributing to the ecosystem ever since. In 2015 Monica left the corporate world to take on the CEO role with Startup Muster full-time.

Linda Cunningham

Linda Cunningham relocated to Western Australia in October last year to take up the position with the Peel Development Commission as Director of Transform Peel, an innovative program funded through Royalties for Regions that aim to attract new business investment into the Peel and create 33,000 new jobs to meet the needs of the predicted population growth from 130,000 to 440,000 by 2050.

Prior to this Linda had lives on the Gold Coast in South East Queensland where she had extensive experience in local and state government, and the private sector, working predominantly in Regional Economic Development, focusing on industry growth and job creation in diverse sectors including ICT, Biotechnology, Health, Medical and Lifesciences, Education and Training and Tourism.  Her focus has been innovation, incubators, commercialising, investment attraction, developing hubs and clusters, building business capability, export readiness and developing supply and value chains to achieve collaboration and consolidation for export distribution.
