Startup Grind – Andre Eikmeier – Vinomofo Founder
Startup Grind held an in-depth fireside chat with Vinomofo Founder, Andre Eikmeier. Andre talked about the birth of Vinomofo, the largest online wine retailer in Australia. He discussed the challenges they faced, how they overcame them and where the business is heading in future. This was a fascinating “behind the scenes” insight into the real grit required to start a business of this nature, and the lessons learnt along the way.
Andre Eikmeier is an Entrepreneur, Co-Founder + Joint CEO of Vinomofo, one of Australia’s fastest-growing companies and a leader in innovation, disruption and culture.
Vinomofo launched in April 2011 from a little garage in Adelaide and has since grown quickly and profitably to a run rate of over $50m revenue, 450,000 members and a team of over 100.
Andre and his team have proven to be game-changers in the wine industry, removing some of the ‘bowties and bullshit’ of the elitist wine crowd. He believes that everybody should be able to enjoy good wine and Vinomofo embraces the power of social media and digital content, to engage and entice a new generation of wine consumers.

In 2004, Brendan relocated to San Francisco to further ShopFree’s push into the USA market. As a mentor and consultant Brendan has worked with VinoMofo, Shop A Docket, SportsBet, the Australian Radio Network and rock band INXS. Brendan currently is Director of Community Development for SoftLayer, which was recently acquired by IBM. Brendan is also a mentor at MuruD, Accelerating Commercialisation, Lakeba, NRMA Jumpstart, Incubate and SlingShot.
